The B&C Lightweight Starter has been designed to replace the old and heavy Delco Remy unit fitted as original equipment to most small Continental engines. The unit replaces 1920’s technology with modern high precision engineering and instantly solves all the problems of worn out clutches and cracked gear pinions.
The B&C Lightweight Starter really is lightweight, saving 4.3 lb if you are replacing a key starter and 5.2 lb. if you are replacing a pull cable starter.
The BC320-1 (300683) is STC’d for use in type certified aircraft and is also available without the STC, BC320-H (300667)for use in home built aircraft. The unit is also available with two installation kits, one for replacing the Key Type Starter the other for replacing the Pull Cable Starter.
If you are replacing the Key Type Starter you will need Installation Kit 501-1. Before installing the unit, it is necessary to remove a needle bearing from the engine. To help you do this we will loan you a bearing removal kit against a small deposit. After installation you may return the kit for a refund the deposit.
When replacing the Pull Cable Starter you will need to purchase Installation Kit 501-3. Before installing the BC320 it is necessary to remove a steel shaft that is installed inside the engine case. This is easily done with a small hacksaw and comprehensive instructions covering all aspects of installation are included with the unit.
